The architect is an essential person in our daily lives. Where would you be without him or her? You would be living in the wild without a shelter. You would not work inside an office building. They have and always will be an essential part of science, art and technology. They play an integral part in civilization. They study history and art. They know mathematics and urban codes to ensure that buildings are built according to specifications. We definitely would not want a building to fall apart while we are inside. Their designs are part of our daily lives.
When a person decides to study architecture, he or she must decide on a specialty. There are quite a few branches of architecture to choose from. Interior design, urban, green and landscape architecture are only a few of the many areas in which architects can focus their talents. The educational background is similar for all architects and consists of a broad selection of classes in the arts. It should make sense considering an architect is a talented artist who uses wood, concrete or steel to bring his or her concepts and designs to fruition.
The architect should not stop at a Bachelor's degree. In architecture, a Master's degree can really come in handy because it allows students the time to study more in depth in their selected field. Most often it is during this time of study that the student will undertake a period of internship at a variety of firms. This will allow them to gain much practical experience and will also give insight as to what architectural firm will be the best choice after graduation.

The architect must have a keen eye for detail. Not all architects in the world will design the next great monument, but there will be some who will get the chance to work on great projects. Every one of them must be prepared for the opportunity. As in any field, there will be some that rise above the rest. There will even be some people who, even though they may never go to school, will still be capable of designing great works of art.
